How can we fill up on the “Fuel” that optimizes our human vehicles for wellness, vitality, abundant energy, and joy?
Here are 10 must-try tips for fueling the body well…
Number one the list is to fuel our bodies with big, beautiful, deep breaths. Breaths that nourish our cells. Breaths that flow into our hearts and bellies. Breaths that optimize our human vehicles.
Tip: Consider spending 2 minutes a day being conscious about your breathing. Just be aware of your breath, that’s it. You’ll be amazed at how that simple practice can elevate your levels of energy.

#2 Hydration: drink water
Every organ and every system in our body depends on water. So much so, that even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired.
Bonus reason to stay hydrated: many times food cravings can be quieted by preemptively staying hydrated.
One great way to keep hydration top-of-mind is to keep a full water bottle next to your bed so when you wake up in the morning, the first thing you do is drink 8-12 ounces of water.
Tip: Track how much water you drink throughout the day. Once you’ve done that answer this question for yourself: is it the same, more or less than you thought it would be?
How is information a fuel for our human vehicle?
There is a reason this is 3rd on the list—it’s even ahead of nutrition! That’s how much the information we consume can affect our human vehicles.
- Are you kind in the language you use when you are talking to yourself?
- Are you aware of how the information you are taking in effects you? This includes news, the books you read, conversations, commercials and advertisements, even your facebook feed.
Tip: Answer for yourself this question: What information am I consuming? Then, think about how that impacts your wellness.
#4 Nutrition: What you eat
Vegan? Ancestral? Whole 30? There is so much information circulating about what it means to “eat smart” that it is tough to know who to listen to. In the coming weeks, we’ll get into more detail for how to figure out what fuels YOUR own body well (it is different for each of us, that’s why there is so much contradictory advice).
What can you do right now– today, as you read this?
Get in relationship with your beautiful human vehicle and start trusting. If you are kind to your body by feeding it real food (NOT processed food-like substances), your body will start giving you signals for what it does and does not need to thrive.
#5 Nutrition: How you eat
Have you ever eaten so fast that your food almost seemed like it magically disappeared? Have you ever decided to have a snack even though you just ate a short while ago? Guess what—so have I, but it’s not an ideal way to fuel our bodies well…. So my suggestion for you and for me is NOT to do that.
What will fuel the body well?
Chewing thoroughly and with intention while we eat is a great way to fuel the body well. So is giving our digestive tract time to digest meals before we eat again.
Tip: Introduce a ‘digestion zone’ into your meal-time rituals. The digestion zone for after a snack could be 45 minutes, after a regular meal 2 hours, and after a feast (like Thanksgiving) 3 hours.

Move your beautiful human vehicle!
Whether you choose to walk, scooter, lift weights, or dance your heart out; be sure to fit movement into your life.
Regular physical activity is an important way to maintain physical, energetic, and emotional wellness. Movement supports the lymphatic system to clear out toxins and it helps the body regulate hormones, curb cravings, it helps with clear thinking, aids digestion, supports better and more restful sleep, and so much more.

Can I write the word orgasm and still keep your attention on wellness? I hope so. I’d love to be able to talk about orgasm with you in the context of health and wellness – it has legitimately earned it’s spot on this list. According to Sara Gottfried’s book, the Hormone Cure, orgasm even supports our hormone balance.
When you have an orgasm practice that is respectful to your beautiful human vehicle, then the powerful energy you create with your orgasms can be harnessed and directed to all the cells in your body to raise the positive vibration of your entire being.
And the good news is, if you are looking for more information on the topic of orgasm, there is a woman named Nicole Daedone that has the treasure map to achieving this bliss.
You may have heard of Nicole because she has been quoted by Sara Gottfried (author and Harvard-trained MD), Tim Ferris (from the 4-Hour Work Week), and Dave Asprey (Bullet Proof Executive). You can check out Nicole Daedone’s work here.
#8 Love and Connection
One of our core human needs is for connection.
When we don’t consciously seek out ways to fill ourselves up with positive connection, we sometimes find ourselves turning to unhealthy approaches to connection, like eating or other short-term faux-connection.
It doesn’t require a partner to fuel up on connection. There are many different approaches to filling that same need. The key is that you CONSCIOUSLY choose how you fuel up with connection.
How do we fuel ourselves with love and connection?
Here are a few ways…
One amazingly fulfilling way to enhance our own lives and at the same time add value to the lives of those around us is to connect by volunteering some of our time.
- Connect with ourselves
Another beautiful way to meet our human need for love and connection is to love and connect with ourselves. We can do this by accepting ourselves, by speaking kindly to ourselves, and by validating ourselves that we are each exactly as we are meant to be at this moment in time.
- Connect with loved ones in an authentic connection
For a tip on loving connection in relationship I’ll share an observation from watching my parents juicy connection. What makes me turn to their example?
As you may be able to see from this picture, after 45 + years of marriage, they still have passion. Tip: See and accept yourself and each other as you are with deep respect and appreciation. Live in authentic connection.
#9 Have Fun
Whatever your definition of fun is… whether it’s laughter, hiking in nature, dancing in the moonlight, writing, playing music, cooking, hanging out with friends…. There are tons of healthy ways to fill your heart with joy.
Our human vehicles love filling up with joy and positive energy!
Tip: Make it a priority to do something fun this week. Even if you are totally busy and all you can carve out is a 15-minute block of time. Do it!
Tip 2: Offer a genuine smile to someone today. It’ll lift your day and probably theirs too!
Achieving balance is such a challenge for so many of us, which makes getting a full night sleep almost burdensome.
It’s tricky because we don’t know how long we’ll have in these human vehicles to experience all the joy life has to offer. Here’s one approach that has worked well for me. Do your best to enjoy something about each day and each interaction with your loved ones as if it were your only day. But also be respectful of your human vehicle knowing that it is your mode for getting around for however long you are here. And the kinder you are to your body, the more comfortable you will be every day.
How do you ensure you get enough sleep?
There is a great clip on YouTube of Arnold Schwarzenegger saying “sleep faaaster”. And even though it’s really fun to watch him say that, the fact of the matter is, our bodies DO need to get enough sleep. Yes, there are some things we can do to get by with a little less sleep (like stay hydrated, eat the foods that fuel us best, make sure our hormones are in balance, and maintain healthy energy hygiene practices). But even when we are optimized, we still need sleep.
Be respectful of your human vehicle and schedule in enough time to replenish and recharge.
It was tough to limit this list to 10, so here are a two bonus thoughts to take with you on your path of abundant wellness…
