Even when we love the feeling of vibrant wellness, we sometimes make choices that do not fuel our bodies well.
Sometimes it’s in celebration, sometimes we are around foods that remind us of special memories and our emotions step-in and take over. Sometimes we don’t want to say no to a sweet elderly grand-aunt that just spent all day making what she remembers to be your favorite cookies. There are so many reasons we can take that first bite, and sometimes we end up in a cookie-tailspin.
What can we do to find our path back to vibrant wellness?
Whether it was a couple of days of eating out of harmony with our human vehicles or a couple of years, the first steps are the same… Be kind to yourself! Don’t beat yourself up for being imperfect, we are all human beings, we are works in progress. The important thing is to learn and move forward.
I read a quote this morning from a man named Laurence Shames. I am not familiar with his writing, but I loved the quote… “Success and failure. We sometimes think of them as opposites, but they’re really not. They’re companions– the hero and the sidekick.”
What can we learn from the hero and the side-kick?
If you are in a cookie tailspin (and your “cookie” can be some other non-fueling food choice)… Take a deep breath. Get back in harmony with your human vehicle. Learn from it and move forward with confidence. While you were in your cookie tailspin, did you notice feeling more sluggish, bloated, moody? What did you learn about the benefits to eating healthy when you juxtaposed it with other choices?
How can we come out of the cookie tailspin?
The key to success is this: don’t look at the wall (the wall is the cookie). If you focus on the cookie you will surely crash. Instead focus on where you want to go. Picture how awesome you feel when you jump out of bed in the morning feeling full of energy and positivity!
