Was today supposed to be a work day? Yes. It was also supposed to be a school day for the kids. But with that much snow, none of us were going anywhere. That puts us face-to-face with a moment of choice. Choosing between trying to force-fit work like swimming against the tide. Or choosing to make today a day off, and consciously shifting plans to get today’s work done over the weekend.
It’s not always possible, but when you can, I highly recommend choosing to swim with the figurative tide of the day.

If you know a big storm is headed your way, it might be fun to pick up some flowers. When you go downstairs in the morning, they’ll be there to greet you with a reminder of sunny days.

Take a walk and focus on what’s awesome
Speaking as a person that prefers the warmth and sunshine, I know it can be a challenge to muster up the desire to go for a walk in a cold snowy day. But getting outside and moving your body may be just what will fuel your smile. Especially when you focus on what is awesome.
Today I spotted these hearty grasses. And rather than simply walk on by, I really took the time to see them. Each blade of grass seemed to dance carelessly in the wind– it was really quite joyful to take it all in.
Can adults make snow angels just for the fun of it? Yes! How about leaving a snow heart for passers-by to find on Valentine’s Day? Absolutely! Take a moment and let your inner-child come on out.

A warm, hearty soup is always a great choice for fueling the body well on a cold winter day.
