The most important thing you can do to ensure a healthy and sustainable return to pre-pregnancy fitness is to be kind to yourself. Start your fitness journey by being deliberate in the language you use to speak to yourself. You are not fat, you are postpartum. Wear that label with pride.

How long will it take to return to pre-pregnant fitness levels?
The answer will be different for everyone. But it is important to have realistic expectations. Yes, you can and should expect to achieve pre-pregnancy fitness. It’s only a question of how long it will take, not if it can happen.
While it is certainly possible to return to pre-pregnancy fitness in a very short time, what is more typical is the ‘nine months on nine months off’ timeframe. When you see people looking amazing just weeks after having a baby, it can make you doubt the wisdom of your own body. But let me be the voice of reason to remind you that all bodies are different, and yours deserves your love and respect just as it is.
Trust your body and train smart. One day, when your back to your pre-pregnancy fitness levels, the question of “how long it takes” will become a faded memory.
